Charles Strain is Vice President of U. S. Marketing at United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS). Charles currently oversees all field Marketing efforts in the United States as well as Corporate Segment Marketing and Corporate Product Marketing.
Charles began his career with UPS in 1993 in Denver, CO as a package car driver and later promoted to an Account Executive role. His most recent positions entail serving as the regional Vice President of Marketing both in the Central Region as well as the Southwest Region, and working several years as the Corporate Director of Marketing for all U.S. Ground Products and Product Accessorials.
Before attending graduate school, Charles was employed by First Union National Bank as a Consumer Branch Manager for three years in Atlanta, GA.
From a community perspective, Charles is completing a six year engagement as a member on the Board of Trustees for the Babson Center for Global Commerce at The University of the South. The Center’s array of co-curricular programs, integrated with Sewanee’s Pre-Business Program and interdisciplinary business minor, provide Sewanee students a wealth of business-related opportunities during their undergraduate years and assists them in achieving their goals after graduation. He is also currently completing a one year term on the Sweet Apple Elementary School Governance Council in Roswell, GA as a parent representative for the community.
Charles earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Sewanee, The University of the South, and an MBA, from the Manderson Graduate School of Business at The University of Alabama.
Charles, his wife Diana and two children, Bonnie and Will live in Roswell, GA, where they are active in their church and enjoy a variety of sports and outdoor activities.
